Twas the day before school starts and time was crunching near
for it was the first day of school little Haleigh did fear.
Breanna had picked out her new school attire
and a snazzy zebra back pack that her friends would admire.

Pencils, markers, erasers and such
workbooks, headphones, the list is too much.
All was in order, everything was in line
we had signed every paper that had to be signed.
Breanna and Haleigh were tucked into bed
not knowing how bad tomorrow mommy did dread.
It was like Christmas the excitement in their eyes
the first day of school had finally arrived.

It took some effort but Haleigh's hair was finally tame
breakfast was eaten and they learned their teachers name.
Out the door they ran with camera's flashing away
never again would we experience this day.
I gave them a kiss and made sure they had their snack
and before I said goodbye they never looked back.
I walked to the door and was greeted with smiles
the walk back to my car seemed like for miles.
I was happy they made it without any fears
but letting them go I fought back the tears.
another chapter in our book began with this day
another memory for me that is here to stay.

That was so awesome! You are so creative...what a great way to commemorate their first day of school! I hope you print that & save it for them to appreciate one day. Oh, & the picture of Haleigh's hair was classic! I laughed SO hard! You are a great mommy! I love you!
That was so sweet... I got a little misty-eyed.
